Digital Mammography Training

ABOUT THE COURSE:

The Achieving Quality Imaging Full Field Digital Training in Mammography seminar is a comprehensive 1 day continuing education course that covers all aspects pertaining to initial digital mammography training for radiologic technologists and radiologists interested in crossing over into digital mammography.

The full field digital mammography seminar is designed to provide attendees with the initial digital mammography training necessary to fulfill the requirements set forth by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

Any radiologic technologist or radiologist who is looking to meet the requirements set forth by the MQSA for initial training in digital mammography.  Our comprehensive full field digital mammography training program is approved by American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and will satisfy 8 of the required Category A credit hours.

Prospective attendees also include those radiologists who are fulfilling their need for Continuing Medical Education credits.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Donald Jacobson, Ph.D.

Donald Jacobson, Ph.D. is a practicing medical physicist and Assistant Adjunct Professor of Radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Jacobson is an experienced instructor, having taught the physics of mammography over 200 times, and has written a textbook for technologists on the physics of mammography. Don truly enjoys teaching and loves the challenge of making complex concepts understandable. Many students have thanked him for his enthusiasm in teaching.


COURSE COST:

$300 - Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
$175 - Radiologic Technologist (RT)
$150 - If Attended an Achieving QI Initial Mammography Training Program During Same Calendar Year


CANCELLATION POLICY:

To receive a refund, requests must be postmarked fourteen days prior to the first day of the seminar. Cancellations postmarked less than fourteen days prior to the first day of the course will receive credit (minus a $50.00 administration fee) toward another seminar conducted by Achieving Quality Imaging.

Refunds will NOT be granted for no shows.


COURSE CREDIT:

Our Digital Mammography course satisfies the mandated 8 hours of initial training in full field digital mammography required under MQSA regulations.  It is approved by the ASRT for 8 Category A continuing education credits for x-ray technologists.  It is approved by the Medical College of Wisconsin for 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 continuing education credits for radiologists.  However, this course satisfies the minimum 8 hour requirement under the MQSA for both radiologists and technologists. 

Radiologists and technologists will leave the course with an 8 hour certificate which satisfies, and is proof of, the MQSA requirement for initial training in full field digital mammography.  Radiologists will be mailed their Cat 1 certificate for 6.75 AMA PRA credits after the seminar is completed. The course will cover a review of binary numbers, digital image definition, image acquisition, detectors, image processing, display and storage, image quality and quality control and radiation dose.
