We are entering our 13th year of providing nationwide Initial Training in Mammography and Mammography continuing education courses. In addition, we now offer 8 hour Digital Mammography courses that are approved for radiologists and technologists. Our goal is to provide meaningful education in mammography and to augment the knowledge and skills of our seminar participants. In doing so, we hope to positively impact the life saving quality of their every day work.
MAMMOGRAPHY PROGRAMS:
INITIAL MAMMOGRAPHY TRAINING:
You will find our Initial Training in Mammography courses to be particularly helpful if you are taking the ARRT or California Mammography Board Exams in the near future. The program will cover all aspects pertaining to the mammography boards. We follow the ARRT Mammography Certification Handbook as a guideline to keep our course current. In addition to lecturing on the various subject areas stated in the ARRT Certification Handbook, we will provide hands-on positioning workshops in which each participant will work one-on-one with a qualified instructor and live model in learning the basics of the craniocaudal (CC) and mediolateral oblique (MLO) mammographic positioning views.
The subject material covered in our course includes, MQSA Regulations, epidemiology, early detection examinations, signs and symptoms, film labeling, basic and advanced positioning, breast anatomy, physiology, pathology & disease, interventional procedures, surgical & treatment options, analog and digital mammography quality control procedures, mammographic techniques, instrumentation, image evaluation and physics of mammography.
DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY TRAINING:
Our Digital Mammography course satisfies the mandated 8 hours of initial training in full field digital mammography required under MQSA regulations. It is approved by the ASRT for 8 Category A continuing education credits for x-ray technologists. It is approved by the Medical College of Wisconsin for 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 continuing education credits for radiologists. However, this course satisfies the minimum 8 hour requirement under the MQSA for both radiologists and technologists.
Radiologists and technologists will leave the course with an 8 hour certificate which satisfies, and is proof of, the MQSA requirement for initial training in full field digital mammography. Radiologists will be mailed their Cat 1 certificate for 6.75 AMA PRA credits after the seminar is completed.
The course will cover a review of binary numbers, digital image definition, image acquisition, detectors, image processing, display and storage, image quality and quality control and radiation dose.
